This is a picture of modern day Sierra Leone. As shown in the picture it looks like a very poor area. There is a lot of run down buildings and trash on the streets. Although this place may look broken down, people who live there may be proud of their village. To them, they might see the beauty in all of the trash and debris. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have been proud of something others might not be proud of?
I really like this picture because it showes that the author wasn't liying about his discribtion to Sierra Leone in his book, which makes his book more intersting.
